Jan 11

It was supposed to be and early-morning rise and a quick run to the border and then Mexico south.

However our beautiful location on what might be called Top of the World – desert -- did not encourage us to move to quickly.

Next it was into Nogales. We had to buy Mexican car insurance. Believe it or not one week of insurance was $51.02 weeks was $98, and six months was $140. Obviously we chose the six months which allows us to head through Mexico at any speed we want and then come back without having to purchase any more insurance.

By the time we got through with insurance and checking tire pressure, etc. it was after 12 o'clock. We decided to wait a day before we crossed into Mexico. To pass time we went to Patagonia lake State Park. This park is definitely a hidden jewel. Just out of Nogales, it is a smaller lake in the middle of nowhere with a very unique microclimate that included every kind of cactus and tree that could possibly grow in the area.

Some beautiful hiking and what a sunset!

Combining this with a full moon made for a wonderful supper
